Justin and Michael are having a lavish wedding reception, in a huge mansion that belongs to Justine's sister and her brother-in-law. Melancholia, a planet that has hidden behind the Sun for millions of years, is approaching the Earth. Will it pass the Earth, offering an extraordinary spectacle, or hit our planet, putting the world to an end? This uncertainty creates fear that each man must handle in a different, often extreme way.
